   GET INVOLVED
As the only comprehensive school- based teen suicide prevention program in Louisiana, Teen Life Counts (TLC) reaches over 7,000 high school students annually in 45 public, private, and parochial schools in the Greater New Orleans area.
BE A VOLUNTEER
Twice a year, JFS offers a two-day training for school professionals and community volunteers on suicide prevention. Volunteers must be 21 or older and need to be available during school hours to teach the curriculum.
GET YOUR SCHOOL INVOLVED
We offer classroom curriculum for upper and middle school students, educational and training workshops, crisis intervention and more. If you are interested in bringing the TLC program to your school, contact us at (504) 831-8475.

Teen Life Counts is a school-based suicide prevention and awareness program. TLC uses professional staff and 35 trained community volunteers to teach a suicide prevention program in 45 area schools. Last year, TLC reached 7000 students and referred 500 students for counseling.

Students in the TLC program learn how to identify warning signs of depression and suicide, how to talk to a troubled friend, and where to go to get help. They are also taught the importance of breaking a secret to save a life and the danger of alcohol and substance abuse by those who are depressed or suicidal.
